Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 July 2026
Kuitter ("we", "us") is a private, judgment-free companion app for recovery from compulsive pornography use. We take your privacy seriously — recovery is personal, and we designed Kuitter to collect as little as possible and to let you stay anonymous. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
The short version: We don't sell your data. We don't run ads. You can use the community anonymously. Your recovery content is used to power your streaks, tools, and your AI companion — not to profile you for anyone else.
1. Information we collect
- Account: your email address and a password (used only to sign you in). You may choose an anonymous display identity for the community, so other users never see your real name or email.
- Recovery data you create: streaks and check-ins, recovery goals, journal entries, mood logs, trigger logs, and activity (breathing, meditation, exercises, games, panic-mode use). This stays tied to your account and powers the app's features.
- Community content: posts, comments, likes, and any images you choose to share. You control whether these appear under your public or anonymous identity.
- AI companion: when you chat with Kuitter (our in-app AI) or receive check-ins, your messages and a summary of your recent in-app activity are sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to generate a response. We do not use your conversations to train third-party models.
- Device & notifications: a push-notification token so we can send reminders and check-ins.
- Subscriptions: purchases are processed by Apple App Store / Google Play through RevenueCat. We receive your subscription status — we never see or store your card or payment details.
2. Content protection (optional DNS filter)
If you turn on Protection, the app configures your device to use a third-party family-filter DNS resolver (CleanBrowsing) so adult sites are blocked across your browsers. This filtering happens on your device / at the DNS resolver — we do not collect, receive, route, or store your browsing history.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the app: streaks, community, tools, notifications, and your AI companion.
- To personalize your recovery support (e.g., your companion referencing tools you've used).
- To keep the community safe (moderation, reporting, and enforcing our Terms).
- To operate subscriptions and remember your entitlement.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
4. Where your data lives (processors)
- Cloud infrastructure provider — database, authentication, and file storage.
- OpenAI — generating AI companion responses and check-ins.
- RevenueCat, Apple, Google — subscription processing.
- Expo / Apple / Google — push notification delivery.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments.
5. Your choices & rights
- Anonymity: use an anonymous identity in the community at any time.
- Access & deletion: you can deactivate or delete your account from within the app. Deleting your account removes your personal profile and content, subject to limited records we must keep for security and legal reasons.
- Notifications: turn push notifications off in your device settings.
- To exercise any right or ask a question, email us at team@kuitter.com.
6. Data security
Data is encrypted in transit, access is restricted by row-level security, and authentication tokens are stored using your device's secure storage. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
7. Children
Kuitter is intended for adults (18+). It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
8. Changes
We may update this policy; we'll revise the date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
